David Vaughan

David Vaughan is Professor of Mineralogy at the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences at the University of Manchester. David is the Director of the Williamson Research Centrefor Molecular Environmental Science at Manchester. He has published over 200 papers in the mineral, (bio)geochemical and environmental sciences including pioneering work on mineral surface structure, reactivity, and mineral-microbe interactions. He is an internationally recognised expert on mineral chemistry, mineral surface science and environmental mineralogy and is a (co-) author or editor of authoritative texts on these subjects. He is Associate Editor of Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, Past-President of the European Mineralogical Union and a Fellow of the Geochemical Society. His awards include: Mineralogical Society of America Distinguished Lecturer (2004); RSC Geochemistry Award (2006) and the Schlumberger Medal of the Mineralogical Society(2006).
