Becky Lunn

Becky Lunn leads the £1.9 million EPSRC consortium entitled ‘Biogeochemical Applications in Nuclear Decommissioning and Waste Disposal’ (BANDD). She is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and has extensive experience of mathematical modelling of hydromechanics in faults and fractures with over 30 peer-reviewed publications. Recent research has led to the development of the first statistical and numerical models of spatial and temporal permeability evolution in geological fault zones. In 2008 she was appointed as expert hydrogeologist to the UK Committee for Radioactive Waste Management, CoRWM which provides scrutiny of Government policy implementation in radioactive waste management and disposal, and delivers advice to Ministers. In 2011 Becky was awarded the Aberconway Medal for distinguished work in the advancement of the profession and practice of geology.
