E-mail Print PDF

Rae Mackay has primary research interests in modelling the migration and fate of contaminants in subsurface environments; integrated environmental systems modelling, spatial statistical modelling and risk analysis. His primary nuclear related research concerns the hydrogeological characterisation of nuclear waste host rocks including recent studies of physical transport in structured heterogeneous media (NERC Micro to Macro) and the application of coupled hydro-mechanical modelling to upscale transport processes in fractured rock (United Kingdom Nirex Limited). He has been a member of the Geosphere Characterisation Advisory Panel (GeoCAP) for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. Formerly Professor of Hydrogeology at the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Birminghamin the UK he now holds a Chair in the School of Geosciences at Monash University, Australia.
